Extremity Adjusting

This is the application of chiropractic adjustment to joints other than those of the spine, i.e., shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand/finger, hip, knee, ankle/foot/toe. Examples of conditions treated by extremity adjustment: carpal tunnel syndrome, gait, or posture-related problems.

Diversified Technique

A widely used type of chiropractic care to adjust the spine and extremities using technique involving very precise hands-on thrusts aimed at restoring proper movement and alignment to the spine. This technique is the most widely used of all chiropractic techniques and is the one probably most familiar to patients. The Diversified adjustment entails a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust that usually results in a cavitation of a joint (quick, shallow thrusts that cause the popping noise often associated with a chiropractic adjustment).

Activator Methods

A handheld adjusting instrument delivers a gentle impulse into the vertebral segments of the spine, or the extremities. The force feels like a light thumping sensation when used to treat everything from low back pain to certain types of headaches, like migraines.

Applied Kinesiology

This is an approach to chiropractic treatment in which several specific procedures may be combined. Diversified manipulative/ adjusting techniques may be used with nutritional interventions, together with light massage of various points referred to as neurolymphatic and neurovascular points. Clinical decision-making is often based on testing and evaluating muscle strength.

Kinesio-taping

A rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions.

Thompson Technique

This technique involves a specially adapted table with padded platforms designed to drop a fraction of an inch when the chiropractor applies a quick thrust to make an adjustment. The subtle dropping motion, which patients feel as vibration, makes it very comfortable for most patients. It can be used for the spine or extremities.
